New Furniture New In! - A true statement piece with history.
A true statement piece with history.
This antique Indian dowry chest is more than furniture - it’s craftsmanship, story, and style all in one.
Crafted from solid hardwood and bound with hand-forged iron, this chest features decorative rivets, oversized keyholes, and traces of its original turquoise paint. Inside, the raw wood planks bear the marks of hand tools used more than a century ago.
Dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s, chests like this were traditionally made in Rajasthan and Gujarat, India. They served as dowry or wedding chests, storing valuables, clothing, and household goods. The heavy ironwork not only secured the contents but symbolised strength and protection for the new household.
Today, these pieces seamlessly bridge old and new:
- Coffee table with hidden storage
- End-of-bed trunk for linens
- Entryway statement with seating
- Sideboard or bar station in the dining room
- Or simply a decorative anchor for any modern interior.
Every angle reveals something new - aged paint, hammered iron, and the natural wear of generations. One-of-a-kind, and impossible to replicate.
Dimentions (approx):
- Depth: 40 cm
- Width: 110 cm
- Height: 78 cm
